Fence Replacement

For Safety and Security

During our visit to the Children’s Home and EKHS [in October 2023], Jill and I saw first hand the economic crisis hitting Kenya. Prices on all goods have skyrocketed since our visit in February. Unemployment is rising to levels not seen in many years: over 30%

Unfortunately, one of the repercussions of the economic devastation has been a dramatic rise in the crime rate. Our digital library was recently burglarized, losing wireless internet adapters and computer memory chips. In addition, there have been many people caught sneaking through the back fence exposing our kids to the criminal elements of society, and has made the facility a target for criminal activity.

After some serious discussions with the Kenyan board, they are confident that along with other measures, installing a security wall along our property lines will provide a much needed deterrent against the criminal elements in the area.

We are looking to raise funds to replace our existing chain link fence with a block-and-concrete barrier, starting with the north and east property lines. The eventual goal is to enclose the entire property, but the intrusions to date have all been through these two fences.
